Moving 2
Well, the moving process continues this week. We completely ensured that nothing can be located in any of the boxes by randomly throwing things in them when we were packing. That makes unpacking a bit like a treasure hunt. When you are looking through a box for something as innocuous as a spatula, you could stumble upon a hoodie, a shoe (we apparently only packed shoes one at a time because I have not yet found a pair together in one box) and a lamp. It’s like the worst possible game you can play when you want something for your uniform at work but the best possible game when you just want to make everyone in the room laugh at your confusion while trying to find something.
Earlier this week, I came home from work and immediately went to bed. For some reason this week really drained me. My roommate came in and gave me a cup of water and then I proceeded to sleep the rest of my 15 hours until the next morning. It was pretty fantastic.
Two of the roommates are out of town so we went downtown with a friend whose significant other was out of town. It turns out two of my roommates think I have two conversational modes depending on if I am entertaining people or not. Here are the examples I was given:
If I am around people I don’t feel I am entertaining (i.e. the people I live with), silence is not a problem. It doesn’t matter if we are always talking because being around the people is what is really important.
If I feel as if I am entertaining people, I will work hard to make sure there are little to no pauses in the conversation. I will ensure that while you are talking, I am formulating a response or good way to move the conversation to another topic that I think you will like.
Everyone says it’s not a problem, but they thought it was really funny that I haven’t ever noticed.
