Moving

This is moving weekend.  We have a lot of people helping us move in a very short amount of time.  The house is a wreck and we are all tired and sweaty from working over 20 hours this weekend just to get people moved out and old apartments cleaned up.

On a positive note, my muscle scan came back all clear.  It was a major muscle tear that is just taking its sweet old time healing.  I am going to start swimming some instead of running so much to try to take a little bit of pressure off the healing process.

I’ll post pictures of the new house once it is finally all cleaned up and organized.  Right now I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t even be able to find the floor in the pictures.  It’s not a pretty sight.

Inception

While one of our friends is away for a training course, we have been chatting with him on our EVO 4Gs.  The other night, he was driving some friends home who may have been drinking and they decided to stop at a burger place and get some food before they made it all the way home.  What better pastime in the restaurant than to dial up your friends from back home?!  They video chatted with us and we kept seeing one of the girls trying to shove fries at the phone.  We realized after a second that she was attempting to feed us through the phone by shoving food through the camera.  It was quite hilarious.

We moved one of my friends from college who got assigned here into his house with his wife yesterday.  It was pretty humid and incredibly hot so we were just dripping sweat by the time all was said and done.  We are just storing up all these moving favors though because we are going to need all the help we can get in a week when we are attempting to move four people from three apartments with two cars into one house.  It’s going to be fun, I just know it!

Inception was a great movie.  We went and saw it on IMAX with a big group of friends and it was really worth it.  It was refreshing to see a movie that was moderately original at a time when we are starting to hear about the development of the fourth movie in a series.  I mean, come on people.  Is there really that little to make a movie about?!

Another one of our friends is out of town for a couple weeks for a different class so we are mowing his yard for him.  It turns out if you have two people working on it, you can be done in nine minutes.  I guess that’s the benefit of him living in a neighborhood with very small plots of land.  I supposed it’s not enough for a dog unless it were an incredibly small dog, but maintenance is a breeze!

Whiter

We finally finished the White Strips. Because of various camping trips and other activities, it took us 25 days to finish a 20 day program. All three of us have noticeably whiter teeth and we are really happy with the way it turned out. I have used them once before, but I think the technology has come a long way. They take less time in fewer days and use what the package claims is less chemicals. I’m all for anything that takes chemicals out of my mouth.

We went and saw the new movie Predators and it turns out it is pretty much exactly what you would think it was. Mindless shooting and a lot of people dying before they finally get to a point where the storyline couldn’t support itself any longer. They throw in a little humor and get back to the killing. It was apparently great for anyone who had seen the original according to a lot of the reviews we read but I saw the original not too long ago and it really didn’t do a lot for me. Maybe you have to see the original when you are younger?

One of the guys and I purchased some belt buckles to wear to the dance hall. Here is the buckle with my hand next to it for measurement’s sake:

And here is what we looked like for a night out:

Ah, good times.

We went to a friend’s house because he owed us dinner and we all promptly fell asleep in the den while he worked on dinner in the kitchen. Apparently I sleep with my eyes open a little bit which prompted another picture:

I just think it makes me look like I am enjoying my sleep.

Dance Hall

We went to a dance hall and camping this week because we had a four day weekend to enjoy! We had two more people from out of town visiting this weekend and thought we would take them out for a little country fun. The place we went is really nice and at the end of the night everyone agreed that we should go back sometime. When I was driving everyone home, we stopped at the same restaurant, one of the people in the car really wanted food from a local restaurant. That certainly didn’t help out with the caloric intake of the weekend. There are a lot of pictures on the picture tab of both camping and dancing, so take a look if you want to check them out.

We camped at a family-oriented campground which turned out to be an absolute blast. We got talked to once when a ‘ranger’ asked us to move our tents a little closer to the picnic tables. We had no idea why (our tents were backed up against the woods and there was nothing to be seen behind us for 80 feet or so. We told the ‘ranger’ that we would move and promptly forgot. One of the guys we were with said that we always get in trouble while camping even though we try really hard to keep to ourselves and not break any rules. Maybe we just look suspicious.

After saying all the things about time constraints from the past few weeks, I was reminded by a friend of an old quote: “Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.” Maybe they were just better at scheduling things than I am.
