Halloween
We had a Halloween party last night at one of our friend’s houses with her entire family. It was funny when we walked in as no one recognized us and we were just waltzing into a house we had never been in before with a small group of people who had never met any of the family. There was a second where the looks on the faces of the family members were questioning who we were, but then our friend walked over and gave us all hugs and the dam broke. After that, every person there had to come over and shake our hands and thank us for our service. Here we were just trying to get to the drink area and we kept getting stopped and introduced to yet another member of the huge family that was there.
Some of the costumes were quite spectacular. Our friend is pregnant so she painted a black t-shirt on her belly to look like the Death Star from Star Wars. There was a couple who came as a pimp and his charge though their genders were reversed. There were vampires, Death, doctors and janitors. All in all, it was a great evening and everyone really enjoyed themselves!
We had a going away at work for one of the guys who is deploying starting next week. There is a Mexican restaurant that everyone wanted to go to but after all the great Mexican food we have at home, it’s not the same. We’ve gotten spoiled with really good places that turn out food fast and delicious.
Work has been kind of crazy lately because some of our personnel is out on vacation and isn’t in a time zone that can be easily reached. That has lead to some minor confusion, but between the bulk of us, we have managed to get everything done mostly on time. On Thursday, one of my coworkers and I looked at each other and both just sighed. It was one of those moments where we both realized the week was almost over and it couldn’t come quickly enough. I felt like I had been hit by a Peterbilt truck.
