Weather
The weather here at home is finally … staying exactly the same as it has been for the past few months. That means it’s pretty warm and relatively humid all at the same time. I walked out of my place on Friday morning for PT and it felt like I was stepping into a steam room. It was not pleasant. At least it usually burns off by the afternoon and it’s just dry and warm/hot. We’ve only gotten a tiny bit of rain since I’ve been home which just turned the air into soup. The summer has been unseasonably warm, so it’s just something you live with!
After all the drives to and from work this week and the runs I’ve been on, I’ve caught up on all the podcasts I missed while I was gone. My laptop downloads them all while I’m not here so I can listen to them all when I get back from traveling; there were more than 40 for me to get through from this last trip which equates to more than 30 hours or podcasts. I should update them while I’m on the road but I don’t have a whole lot of time to get through them while we’re working at another location.
Tech alert: if you don’t want to hear about some tech news, skip this paragraph.
I found an authentication method called PPP (Perfect Paper Passwords) that offers two-factor authentication for any remote system. I was looking for an open source version of RCA SecurID because we needed a proof of concept we could put together to show a less expensive way for a person or group to be able to implement two-factor authentication. I’m going to try it out on my webmail server to see if I can get it to work before I write it up and pass it off to some of the tech writers at work. Let’s all hope it works!
