Books
I have been buying an inordinate amount of books lately and I’ve come to decide I need to get a Kindle. Then I look at the price of a Kindle and realize I don’t really need one that badly. If the books that you bought for it were a LOT cheaper than the paper versions, it might be worth it (and I’m sure it’s worth it in the VERY long run), I just don’t know that I’m going to hit that magical peak sometime before the next revision or three of the Kindle comes out. I’ve really been buying them a lot lately so I have something to read as I go out and about, but I don’t have a whole lot of time to crack open a good paperback but two or three nights a week when I’m sitting in my apartment.
One of my pet peeves is not having a website that redirects you to the www. version of the page if you simply type site.com in the address bad. I mean, how lazy have website administrators gotten that they can’t redirect a single subdomain (the blank subdomain) to the www. subdomain. It’s simply a matter of people who aren’t doing what they are getting paid to do and they see no reason to change that until they no longer reap the benefits of going to a site. If you have no idea what I mean, try typing www.nrfirth.com in the address bar and see what happens; I’ll wait.
Did you see that? When you tried to go to www.nrfirth.com, you were redirected to nrfirth.com because I took the eight seconds it takes to configure a server to do that. My job has me dealing with system admins that have no idea what they are up to each and every day, so I’m starting to see that laziness really affects the way people do business. Get your act together, people!
And to all my friends in Rome, NY this summer; I hope you are having fun!
