This is my big day! Six nice classes to attend today starting at 8.05 and ending at 9.05! What more could a college student ask for?!? I talked to a good friend for a while today. Man, it is good sometimes just to have a conversation that is totally directionless. We just were laughing and having a good time with no real purpose to the entire conversation. Usually, I am very directional and focused in talking with someone about anything important. I don’t take anything too seriously, but when I have to, I can be very applied. On to reality though. Lab today was …. okay, even I can’t make this Chem lab sound fun. We built models of atomic units out of sets of beads. It was one of the most menial, boring tasks I have been asked to do here at college thus far. The funny thing is, I walked out of the lab with my goggles still on my head. We were required to wear them only because we were in the lab, but our TA said that we could just prop them up on the tops of our head because we were not working with any chemicals. So at the end, I finished my In-Lab Webassign assignment and just walked out. Still had my goggles and answers to turn back in, didn’t even notice. I got almost all the way back to my room before I noticed… AND NO ONE HAD SAID ANYTHING TO ME!!! I had passed probably fifty people, and said hello to a couple of people I knew, and not a single person asked what I was doing with lab goggles on my head. *grumble*

I heard a quote today that I just love. It mirrors my reaction the first time I heard something to the effect of, “There is more to life than partying.” Here goes, “You mean there is more to life than being really ridiculously good looking?!?!” That is going to be my life’s mantra from now on. It is so true of me too. Sometimes I get so sidetracked by how incredibly handsome I am that I lose track of other things like…school and…stuff……………………………………. sorry, I saw a mirror and got a little sidetracked. I am trying to come up with a flight cheer, and it is definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. There are not many things that go with the Charlie Chaplains and either rhyme or are funny. I was in E101 today, and we had a great time. That is one of the most boring classes in the world, but my group and I make it a lot of fun. We had to come up with roles for all of people in the group for the upcoming project. I will tell you all the positions and the mission statement; you guess what the project is, okay?
Positions:
Device Assembly Expert
Site Manager/Explosives Technician
Chemical Specialist Manager
Project Analyst
Communication/Safety Coordinator
Hydraulic Specialist
Official Voice-Caster/Radio Expert
Mission Statement:
Develop a breakthrough in hydraulic propulsion for the expedient movement of a dual liter polyethylene teraphthalate bottle through the combination of our mathematical and scientific skills and our collective expertise and attributes.
Give up? It is a water bottle rocket.

Chemistry then Calc II then Econ then AS121. Busy day, huh? It actually isn’t too bad. Wednesday’s are worse. I ran a mile in 7.30 today. That is not bad for someone who was at over 8.45 just three weeks ago. I am going to try to keep shaving that so I will be able to pass my PF test the first time around. The biggest thing for me is going to be the push ups. I really don’t like them, but there is not a lot to do about that. As I write this, I am listening to Third Day’s CD Wire. Great CD, I recommend it to just about anybody. I was looking at Wikipedia today at some random things. I was amazed at how good the encyclopedia is. Think about it, this is an over one million entry online encyclopedia that is quickly gaining popularity and it now an acceptable resource that is universally recognized as a valid source of information. For those who don’t know of Wikipedia, it is an encyclopedia in which any person in the world can change/edit/add an entry with no fee or reason. If you follow normal rules, it should not be as good as it is. It is made and edited by anyone with a keyboard and internet access, there is no incentive to make your entry perfect and there is no quality control for those who want to vandalize the system. (You can get banned from the site, but nothing else.) There are a lot of theories about why it is so good, but I don’t agree with any of the ones I have seen thus far. I am not saying I am the one who came up with this theory; I just have not seen anyone else voice it yet. I think there is a personal sense of pride in checking out an entry you created or edited and seeing that what you put is still there. That inspires people to put good, well-researched entries up because ones that are not will soon be edited and corrected. That is why it is so darn good.

I found the perfect definition for an Egotist today. I appreciate fully how bad people like this can be. It is, “Egoist: someone who cares more about themselves than about me.” How true is that? This university is slammed FULL of Egotists. People walk by me all the time not even stopping to acknowledge me. It is actually quite disheartening. To be quite honest though, it is so funny coming from a graduating class of 333 to a university with 30,000 people in attendance. I love it here and getting to know so many new people, but it is SO BIG!! It is amazing to think of the logistics of keeping this place running smoothly. We have something like 2,000 professors on campus, and all of them have to have schedules that work for them, and all the students have to make sure they have no classes that accidentally overlap. It is all done in the computer, but there are people out there who have to review everyone’s schedule to make sure no one is trying to fool the system and stuff like that. The biggest thing that I have been impressed with is the dining program. There are 30,000 people with campus IDs, and all the food places are not open to all students for the whole day. Some kids can only get breakfast or lunch at some places, while only athletes can eat at some other places for dinner. It is all quite confusing, but the system here will just not take your card when it recognizes you are in a restricted time/place. Simply amazing…
